We Do Need More Rain Poem by Francis Duggan

We Do Need More Rain

The patterings on the galvanize of the heavy rain
And water is gurgling in the storm-water drain
With the warm and dry Summer with each day drawing near
It is such a beautiful sound for to hear
Some dams and creeks are bone dry and the rivers are low
And in the dry country the great salt pans grow
Many waterways not flowing to the ocean shore
We do need more rain having said that much more
And though signs of more rain in the overcast sky
We do need much more the landscape looks so dry
Signs of global warming to be seen every where
And some species of waterbirds becoming rare
The warm days of Summer are drawing ever near
And we do need more rain at this time of the year.
