We Can Make It Home Poem by Leah Ayliffe

We Can Make It Home

Rating: 2.5

On the streets, walking around at 6am
The club door turns its' sign to ‘close' again
You and I, still wired from a good time
Caught the fire of a music mind.
A boy, he comes from out of anywhere
speaking tongues of a different land
Said no, to his after hours show,
decided to walk around the city's plan

Found some tracks to wander down along
Talking about the absurd life we're on
A silent death crept around us suddenly
A train sounds its horns and then we run
A close call to falling in my dark friends arm
Though we're still breathing the same air you and me
How could we forget about how we're such a mess
This world is losing it's charm you see

There's smoke, it feels like ashes burning in
Inside my dirt and stale tasting lungs.
I breathe, trying to escape the state I'm in
Letting out the evil that has come
And you, you knew it all along
The terror of the world we were to walk
So let, lets not hesitate this mess
Lets leave behind the stone of rock and roll

The drugs, yeah they come effortlessly
Attracted to a soul come undone.
The high, it feels like a summer's day
With good friends laying by the oceans sound
And me, I don't believe the way it all seems
But I guess this is as bad as it gets
The sun, it tries its best to shine out all the rest
To me it's the only thing I'm working on

Lets get lost together
Try a little harder
There's nothing better back where we came from
Lets not surrender
To the darkest hour
We can make it home
Home to ourselves

We can make it home
Home to ourselves.
