We Are The People Poem by Claude H Oliver II

We Are The People

We are the people of the earth
Earth is our most attendant and loving mother
Her snow covered breasts made of granite
Nourish us with life giving water
Her lush and velvet greenery stores water
And gives food to our many living relatives
Her orgasms of thunderstorms fertilize dry fields
Her trees give food and shelter while asking
For nothing in return

Yet our mother is in pain
Her wonderful children flee from
That one wayward child - Greed
She is bleeding from deep cuts to her breasts
Her children run from him who would slaughter them
Her generous and abundant ways are squandered by this one
This child does not hear his mother's cries
He does not feel the deep wounds he inflicts upon her
He sees not his commission of the most sadistic of rapes -
THAT OF HIS OWN MOTHER! !
Yet she forgives unendingly, yet she still pours out her love

She has hope that he will confront his crime
She has hope that he will be remorseful
She has hope that his remorse will bring healing tears
She has hope that the tears of remorse will turn into pleas of forgiveness
She has hope that he will reach out to her with love, mending his destructive ways -
Returning her love which she has given unconditionally
