Watching Swans From Caversham Bridge Poem by Dr.V.K. Kanniappan

Watching Swans From Caversham Bridge

Thames! Beautiful Thames! !
Thames flows through London
Thames is tidal With a rise and fall
of 7 meters in London;

Thames flows through 'Reading'
And its banks are beautiful,
Pavement strolling stretch on either side
is beautiful;

Boats sailing in Thames
Young women who sail in the boats
White swan pairs' which swim in the river
are beautiful;

Watching from Caversham bridge,
somersaulting swans catching the fish
is still more exciting!
Thames! Beautiful Thames! !

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Hi,

I had been to a place, Reading in UK during July - September 2006 to visit my son. I used to go for a walk twice daily and used to watch swans swimming in Thames. I wrote a poem 'Thames! Beautiful Thames'. One reader reviewed and commented that it is like an encyclopedia article (verses 2,3, & 4) . Hence I edited and presenting this poem.

A lovely poem about that famour river. Did you know that in is the queen who owns all the swans and nobody is allowed to kill them and that there is a swan sanctuary in Windsor that look after injured swans.
