Watching - Depression Poem by Elaine Macfarlane

Watching - Depression

Standing on the sidelines,
watching helplessly as the shining light
within you fades.

A bleakness and darkness
invades your soul and I see unbearable
sadness in your eyes.

I watch you plunge into the depths of despair,
slowly slipping away, leaving me powerless
to save you from the demons dragging you down.

But, look at how far you've come from those
dark days.
There are still bad days I know,
when your demons whisper in your ear
trying to pull you back to them.

You are stronger now and able to confront them.
You are fighting and winning the battle.
The light inside shines once more.

The poet has a good grasp of this psychological state known as depression and has give it a nice treatment. He has expressed the hope that the condition is fully curable. Thanks. the shining light.... within you fades. A bleakness and darkness.... invades your soul
