Wasting Away Poem by Tony Robinson

Wasting Away

Said goodbye to innocence one October day
The rainclouds opened up and washed it away
It slipped through my fingers, it didn’t stand a chance
The stars shone their appreciation while the galaxy laughed,
Lessons learned in many ways
Pain is a conductor for the brain
Imprinting faces you long to forget
Total dejection hasn’t sunk in yet,
Waiting, waiting wasting away
Tomorrow comes to take today away
Trying hard to forget the past
The future awaits but it will never last,
Pain hides away, lost in the shadows
It’s how you deal with it that really matters
Eyes smash through a heart of glass
Every fragment a question to ask
Innocence and hope have long since drowned
But if you stop searching they will never be found.
