Warfare Poem by Joseph Narusiewicz

Warfare

Everything stripped away
Like a mine - digging for gold
I hide defiled and beggarly
The stubborn child of the desert
What’s at the bottom?
Pleasure the solace of despair
Cloaked in sequin pride
Waiting for the temporal savior
Battle of the soul fused in the vain
Today I feel the breath of the devil
All the kingdoms of the world
Darkness covered in pithy jewels
Wretched creature out of Eden
In a moments time they glitter
The burning kingdoms of man
Glitter of rebellion
My shield of faith battered
It is written stands
Warfare as old as good and evil
