War Poem

Rating: 5.0

The thing around the world, the thing that we call war
The thing where we fight, but really what for?
People get hurt, people do die
They think it’s for the better, well that’s a lie
We see it in the paper, we see in on the news
No matter what country, we always lose
But what can we do, sitting here at home?
We have got no reason to wander, no reason to roam
The soldiers that go to battle, their family and their friends
What would they be thinking? Well that all depends
The marines lay there dying, panting with regret
Something that even in death, they cannot forget
Taking their last breath, closing their eyes
After all this, this is their prize
A tear descending from his face
His body there in a large space
But the guns still shoot and the bombs still blow
Hiding behind cover way down low
No one knows when it will cease
To get kindness, to get world peace

This a very beautiful poem indeed. So long as there is war there will be no peace among nations. The outcome of a war is always catastrophic, no matter who wins it. You have done a great job here bringing to the people knowledge about the unending woes a war brings in a very nice way. Much love.
