War Of The Words Poem by Susan Williams

War Of The Words

Rating: 5.0

.
It all started one dreary morn
when words died as soon as born
Twas a terrible terrible day
as you'll soon hear all poets say.
.
I posted a thankful reply to Bharati's comment
(hers had been quite an endorsement)
and scampered away thinking all was cogent
- -sad to say it was the last such moment.
.
I returned the next day only to find
my reply must have had a change of mind
I looked and looked but it was neither here nor there
it grieves me to tell you it had disappeared in thin air.
.
Oh, dear, I replied to this comment yesterday
but today my reply has flown away.
I hope it is having a most excellent adventure, dudes
wherever replies disappear to in whatever latitudes.... ;)
.
But then I thought and I thought and then I decided
the powers that be were misguided
if they thought to win this battle of wits
they were wrong- -I never call it quits.
.
So I posted a new reply to that wonderful comment
I pushed the Submit button but to my amazement
It did not appear as a Reply
neither then nor bye and bye.
.
Not one to accept defeat, I let loose a battlecry
and I tried again to post the same reply
Whereupon PH declared I couldn't post duplicate comments
a most odd thing to say when it hadn't posted even one of said comments
.
Not one to accept defeat, I let loose another battlecry
and I tried again to post the same reply
Whereupon PH again declared I couldn't post duplicate comments
a most odd thing to say when it hadn't posted even one of the three comments
.
Oh, game on PH, we shall see who wins- - PH or I - -
so I change the wording and I cry:
Oh, dear, I replied to this yesterday
and today all my replies have flown away.
I hope they are having a most excellent adventure, PH dudes
wherever replies disappear to in whatever latitudes.... ;)
I submitted but as you can well imagine
since it is happening to all your replies' kith and kin
my reply like yours went awry
like all daydreams and pie in the sky.
.
Oh, game on PH, we shall see who wins- -PH or I- -
so again I change the wording and I cry:
Oh, double dear, I replied yesterday and twice today
and yet again my reply has flown away.
I hope they are having an excellent adventure, PH dudes
wherever replies disappear to in whatever latitudes.... ;) ..... ;)
I submitted but as by now you can well imagine
since it is happening to all your replies' kith and kin
my replies like all of yours went awry
like all daydreams and pie in the sky.
.
I hate to say it but I cannot win
I am now in quite a tail spin
but someday I shall return
when how to post on PH I learn.
.

Oh I just love it when a mood steers a poem....yes I do! Why? , because it plows through fallowed pages and reveals what could have been, I love your wit...wherever replies disappear into whatever latitudes..... ;) ...oh that clever smile is the last word being said.......very nice Susan! ! !

I'm so glad you enjoyed the read, Bill. I enjoyed writing myself into a better mood! I don't do end line rhymes [basically cuz I am shabby at them] but attempting them with humorous poems seems a bit easier for me. Almost got a rhythm going in it too. Almost.... ;)

I do try to have a sense of humor about these minor [? ] irritations- -it helps to keep my little boat sailing along happier seas!

I have found that it helps my temper to write about these frustrations because as soon as it is posted my irritation is just a tiny smudge on the corner of page 458 in a book of a trillion pages! ! ! Thank you for enjoying it- that was its goal.

How frustrating posting can be at the best and worst times. Where did that comment go? Those elusive little words that disappeared had they taken on a life and meaning of their own and ran away with that? . Will they ever be seen again? A humorous write that also imparts a sobering thought of losing that lengthy thoughtful comment.

I had to rid myself of the growing frustration somehow! ! ! So I took the humorous approach. I should free myself more often of that anger beneath the surface boiling away in a witch's cauldron! It is much better for the health of my soul and the ideal of world peace ;)
