Waltz Of Cypresses Poem by Ahmad Shiddiqi

Waltz Of Cypresses

Rating: 1.5

(dedicated to Mr. Jan Vogler, a gifted cellist)

grief
mourning
underworld

lonely
longing
never ending

very close
You sang tenderly
Casta Diva of Norma

very smooth
You danced passionately
Wein, Weib und Gesang of Strauss

(inspired by Henri-Edmond Cross' Cypress Trees at Cagnes)

I love the name Waltz of Cypresses and will try to find it on the internet, as I have not heard it before. I can see how the music affected your mood, and the cello is one of my favorite instruments. I have a CD called Heart of the Cello and it is hauntingly beautiful. Thank you Ahmad for sharing this poem. Karin Anderson

Succinct, yet compendious work...Mr.Vogler appeared at Elizabeth City University, in North Carolina, in 2001. A friend of mine had tickets, and found him to be more than worth the price of admission....Nice Work. F j R 2009
