Walking The Same Age(For Maurice) Poem by derrick foster

Walking The Same Age(For Maurice)

We walk the same age together
Though twenty days apart
We walk parallel lives
Similar spaces different paces
Yet arriving at the same time
Our paths intertwining
Brother to brother
Sharing separate adventures
In this likening of ways
We followed twin paths
Settling in our destinies
Still arriving at the same time
You gave me strength when I needed
I gave you love when you needed
Our emotions intertwining
For twenty years we knew each other
In a short space of time
Seeming longer growing together
Quickly showing each other
We walked this same age
Supporting our ways through
Similar pleasures, different likes
Still arriving at the same time
Our lives side by side
In evening strides
As your journey concludes
I now walk this age in memory
Of our time
Walking side by side
In this same age together
