Walking Meditation In The Woods Poem by Kathleen Reguindin

Walking Meditation In The Woods

Stress got to me, I feel off-balance
It’s been a while since a scowl replaced my smile.
I head out to the woods, my refuge
I take a deep breath and start walking.
Green grass beneath my feet, I can’t wait to be amid trees.
I slow down, focus on breathing.
Rid myself of negative emotions and tensions.
Walk slowly, relax, feel the ground
My mind begins to empty, stops thinking.
Relaxing, mindful, quiet, tranquil, senses heightened.
Birds chirping, leaves rustling and down below, the river gushing.
I feel the cool breeze, the birds are singing.
Once in a while, I get distracted by man-made noises
Or a thought suddenly arises
I bring myself back to center, where it matters.
I feel more relaxed and at peace.
