Walk In The Heat Poem by Beth Johnson

Walk In The Heat

With my mom by my side
so happy to be outside

Weather finally cool
felt like a dip in pool

Staying in the shade
everyone out like parade

As pretty soon we got hot
as we reached our spot

To grab some ice cream
and walking in a dream

Were greeted with delight
goodies and movies in sight

We felt the cool and sighed
gave each other high fives

It was a such a lovely trip
I left with a swing of my hips

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Now, this is why God made couplets, Beth! Stellar employment of this seemingly simple, but in reality abstruse form of stanzaic structure....All too often, and to me it is mind boggling, but many people defer to couplets when they are having difficulties with other (far easier) forms of stanzaic structure such as Tercet or Quatrain. I've got news for this inaccurate notion...Yes, Couplets can be force-fed...but the question is...do the couplets flow? Do couplets even make sense to a poem whose text does not have the proper breakpoints that Couplet structure requires in order to make it work like you do here...Sorry 4 the ramble...Solid workmanship all around... ~FjR~
