Walk Beyond The Illusion Poem by Wayne Falconer

Walk Beyond The Illusion

You gotta be superstitious to survive
maybe to stay emotionally alive
walk soft and observe with care
I heard the jukebox poet swear.

The undressed girl haunting the bar
exposed her constant fallen scar
whispering life is the ignoble bitch
unless lover you are dirt gem rich.

The gold teeth suit man did smile
writer boy I dig your writing style
proclaiming life's about making deal
you must get dollar bill real.

The bank accountant of mirth
preys percentage will give birth
to hope instead of lifelessness
his life manifesto is to confess.

Drunken bleach blond reads her flask
vainly sighs about type written mask
everybody's wearing their coat of blues
have you uncovered the spirit news.

Distressing mister normal drinks life away
his greeting card reads repent today
jukebox plays his favourite tune
singing life's doomed gonna end soon.

The divorced couple stand in doubt
just what marriage vows were about
laughing through tear driven eyes
swearing heaven is cold lies.

Every lovers drinking to forget
exposed emotional past life debt
the dark mess of drunken blues
where saints pay their dues.

Saturdays self-ordained priest
carves her meat and feast
drinking the night omens away
what shattered lines left to say.

Life is surely mock walking paradox line
beware passionless shade of rock mine
hear these strong words I ply
written where fallen poets can't lie.

You gotta be superstitious to survive
use your instincts to arrive
to tell truth from confusion
walk calm through lives illusion.
