Wake Poem by Viola Grey

Wake

Rating: 3.5

We wake from this dream
of liars eyes
so long faded
by a promised ideal,
only to discover
we were wrong once more.
I always imagined
you would search
forever for this love,
instead - you fade,
disintegrate in smoke.
Our flame died
in your sad eyes.
I watch you walk away,
tears drown tomorrow
while today slowly bleeds
with broken dreams.
Where does love go
when we tear it apart
like roses without thorns
which cannot cut,
cannot truely bleed-
just empty shells
of something
once beautiful.
We wake from this nightmare,
truth has encased us
within bitter shadows,
and all we know
is that this love
fooled us both.

Beautiful, Vi... Just beautiful. This flows so well that I think you must have written it just as the words led you, if you know what I mean. Occasionally, that happens to me but not as often as I would like!
