Waiting Room Poem by Denise Clark

Waiting Room

Rating: 5.0

I'm finally here
To find out my fate
It's been six long months
No longer can I wait

Blood tests are normal
Scans have been fine
But the anxiety, the waiting
I'm losing my mind

They've found a few tumors
They've found a few lumps
But they can't seem to find
Why I am down in the dumps

Bipolar I am
Depression, it's no news
But the pain, the stress
My joints I cannot use

CT's and blood work
MRI too
EMG and X-rays
What more can they do?

I have to find the cause
Of this pain that's so severe
So I can live in peace
And survive another year

'Waiting Room' is just the right image and metaphor for going through this... Thanks again. You capture those times of being 'on trial'.. and with a strong and defiant conclusion!

Dense, As a nurse I couldn't resist the title. Just reading this fibromyalgia comes to mind. Has anyone ruled out this diagnosis? Shannon
