Voices Poem by David Thomas

Voices

Rating: 5.0

i hear a voice in my head
it's your voice i'm sure,
i'd know it anywhere
i'd know you anywhere
i'd know you everywhere,
there's a whisper in my head
telling me to hold
not to run off the cliff
or dive into the sidewalk,
i know your voice
in my head
talking quietly to me
with such loving words
and such a kind hold,
i know it's your voice
your voice in my head
i'd hear it anywhere
i'd hear it everywhere
i'd know you anywhere,
but you walked far away
and i'm turning down the volume,
i hear a voice in my head
it's your voice, it's your voice,
it is always your voice in my head
but the volume's getting lower,
just a little more
and your kind loving whipsers
will be slowly gone forever.
