VISIONARY KINGS OF BHUTAN

The land of peaceful thunder dragon,
Surrounded by the sacred silence of mountains,
And magically transforming river into ngultrum
Spreading peace and harmony to the beings,
Thus, promoting gross national happiness…

Jigmi Namgyel, the architect of united Bhutan,
The man of courage and loyalty;
Conquered the sharcho khorlothibgye in 1980,
Paving the way for the united Bhutan,
Thus, appeared the marvelous leader of destiny…

Sir Ugyen Wangchuck, the monarch of destiny,
One country, one leader was his aim;
Craving for peace and harmony in the country,
Was able to fulfill after the battle of changlingmithang,
Thus, unifying and establishing the strong monarchy.

Jigmi Wangchuck, the consolidator of the country,
Served the kingdom by the sole prerogative;
In creation of fair and just society,
Keeping country at bay from the worldly turmoil,
Thus, his policy of isolation…

Jigmi Dorji Wangchuck, the father of modern Bhutan,
Most generous and benevolent king of Bhutan,
Abolished the practice of slavery and serfdom
Open its door to the outside world,
Thus, with the beginning of the five year plan…

Jigmi Singye Wangchuck, the monarch of the people,
Set gross national happiness as his goal,
Free education and health for all…
Gifted the people like no other king of world.
Thus, making Bhutan the youngest democracy in the world

Jigmi Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the people’s king,
Travelling far and wide- understanding his people,
A realist king in vision with concrete goals set to achieve,
Thus, as compassionate as the Buddha, winning all’s heart
