Tear down that wall
Music has a sad ending
This divide so great
When would I feel?
Your love again…..!

That stare your eyes
Dry like desert sand
Rough sand paper
Has not touched its wall
Kept locked in a storage bin

At least sand paper
Has a better chance
To fulfill its destiny
Mine a prison
Empty four walls,
Locked barbered door
My jailor walks away
On the outside
I am on the inside
You are my jailor

Tear down that wall
Music has a sad ending
The divide so great
When would I feel?
Your love again.....!

Time has not
Been kind to my face
It’s the only thing
I wear well, so very well
Pale recessed eyes
Valleys forged from frowning
Dry rivers my mouth
Silence my tongue

Outside signs of life
How do I know?
Birds outside my cage
Bask in the genteel pool
Why are their skies so blue?
When my heart is grey

Their songs so painful
I hear with sorrow ears
Highlight my worst fears
Reflecting all that in void
Inside my heart

Tear down that wall
Music has a sad ending
The divide so great
When would I feel?
Your love again…..!

poet Charles Stuart Calverley

He stood, a worn-out City clerk —
Who'd toil'd, and seen no holiday,
For forty years from dawn to dark —
Alone beside Caermarthen Bay.
