Virgin White Poem by Don Pengilly

Virgin White

For us such rarity a site
To see around us virgin white
Like fitted carpet wall to wall
Not one footprint I recall

All life seems to come to halt
A picture round without fault
Then all at once the bubble burst
As if all life wants to be first

To make their print upon the ground
And break the silence with a sound
The eerie silence broken now
As virgin snow falls from the bow

As quickly as white carpet fell
It melts away from field and dell
To reveal again reality
The world around with flaws to see
