Violation V Poem by ARUN D'CRUZE

Violation V

PRGNANCY

after a few months
destiny took its turn
She was pregnant,
a baby to be borne
by the expecting mother.
How does she bother?
This unexpected pregnancy
for her, an irritable anxiety.
Her mother visited,
to discourage nervousness,
to educate of the anchorage
of the new guest, the umbilical tie
knotted in her womb's cage.

In-laws wanted a boy
otherwise it will annoy,
In the nearest town
took her to a gynaeic
gender test for a prelude
who advised to watch and wait
at the sixth month to conclude.
Her pregnancy taught
the lessons of motherhood
uneasiness, vomiting,
addiction to sour food.
The feeling of the body inside
the exponential growth, implied
bulging out abdomen
she touches the baby, talks
and caress, it sometimes kicks
with its tiny legs, her omen.
