Versus Poem by Windsor Guadalupe Jr

Versus

Blood
For blood,
Love for
A love divine

But then these
Fancy trades
Beget nothing
But desolation.

Hate for
Warfare,
Warfare for
Blood as well

The tides ebb
With somberness
As the tides
Call for the shores
Helplessly

Kiss for a
Kiss - often
Times squalid.

Time wants
More time to
Plot death

Death wants death
To pave holes
For life.

Life wants more
Bursting pyrotechnics
Garnished with garish
Infiltration and intrusion.

They intrude you,
You let them
Ransack your homes,
And destroy your lives

As their blood
Wants your blood.

Their death wants
Your life,
And everything in
Between in an immense
Warfare of hatred.

Even the tigers
Want more of
Her skin,
Her flesh

And she lets them
Pillage her blood,
Her life,
Even her death.

It’s I,
Versus -
Up against
These violations.
