Vanished Poem by J.B. LeBuert

Vanished

I woke up tonight and reached for you in bed
You weren't there, it was empty instead
My ears were ringing, but not the phone
There I was, empty and alone

I woke up tonight and reached for you in bed
You weren't there, I grabbed the pillow instead
My heart was broken; will it mend
The tears finally came, will they end

I guess I needed a good cry
To end up like this, need I ask why
Emotions running wild and strong
This solitary life, justifiably wrong

Vanquished and spent
Broken and bent
When you
Vanished
