'Vanessa' Poem by Quenten McClellan

'Vanessa'

Her brown eyes sat alone,
Holding up a mask to the world
Hiding the fear, hiding the sorrow.

Something was wrong but i could not see
an occasional glance to her from
my weary eye, wanting to set her free.

As i gaze upon this beautiful creature
over and over again, seeing a missing piece
i wonder where her joyful smile comes from.
The warming grace that she leaves
clouds the world, but rain never comes again.

It was that one day, i saw her truth.
i saw the hurt that hid in her soul!
My heart throbbed at the sight of the tear
that ran down her cheek
and folded at her pink lips.

I look to her now, seeing a little more
this gorgeous woman, knowing she was hurt by her past
and knowing she will be blessed
by her future!
