Values decline.

Corruption is a human behavior,
Which is reflective of the decline
In professional ethics and values.
Adultery is a human behavior,
Which is reflective of the decline
In marital trust and fidelity.
Shame is the weapon of the society.
It has become blunt; so has the decline.
As long as we salute the large scoundrels
For their wealth and guts we cannot stop it.

poet Edgar Allan Poe

Kind solace in a dying hour!
Such, father, is not (now) my theme-
I will not madly deem that power
Of Earth may shrive me of the sin
