Valentina's Rescue Poem by Stephen Katona

Valentina's Rescue

Rating: 3.0

This is a heart warming tale,
Of a young humpback whale,
Saved in two thousand and eleven,
By people from heaven,
In the Sea of Cortez observing,
Whales needing conserving.

Michael Fishback filled with dread,
When he found a whale that looked dead,
Trapped in a nylon net,
He was very upset,
But when Valentina breathed out,
He let out a shout,
As he and his wife,
Used a small knife,
While Valentina understood,
They were doing her good,
With a fight so gutsy,
that gradually,
She was free...

So on Valentine's day,
She could repay,
Her rescuers for an hour,
With a display of enormous power,
Again and again in the air,
With sights so rare,
Slapping her tail to show,
They had set her heart aglow.

So on Valentine's day,
I would just like to say:
Please support Earth Island's conservancy,
And protect these mammals with fervency.
