In my dream in vain
I saw my name
Passing from mouth to mouth,
An immense fame touched me,
Fame, that killed me
Within and without!
In my dream in vain
I found myself smiling,
Then came a tragic blow,
Still I continued smiling,
Smiling that can only be seen
But never be felt within!
Tis was a dream, full of meaning,
Yet the morning gave no purport of dreaming!
