Utah's Messenger Of The Lord Poem by Darwin Henry Beuning

Utah's Messenger Of The Lord

Rating: 3.0

John Hyrum Koyle Jr

Born during the Civil War
In what was then Utah Territory
Devout and Strong
Raised in the Mormon Faith

Married at age twenty
To Emily, wife, that he loved
Children born to them
Thirteen in all

Visited by an Angel
In the night - 27 August 1894
Bestowed with the gift
'Second Sight'

Shown a mountain of wealth
And nine caverns of Nephite Gold
To be used by a righteous people
At the end of times

John and many believers
Developed and worked
The Koyle Mining Company
Many investors far and wide

Through dreams and visions
Many future events he saw
World War One, Stock Market Crash of 29,
And the end of World War Two

But, most disturbing of all
Future collapse of our nation
And no government at all
TIME, when the Dream Mine comes in

John was warned, put not to pen
What was shown to him
What is known, was recorded
By family and friends

Cast out from the church he loved
18 April 1948
Brokenhearted
John left this Earth at eighty-four

Cast out,
Surely not
John now dwells
In the House of the Lord

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
John Hyrum Koyle Jr,14 August 1864 - 17 May 1949. More information on Bishop Koyle, his visions, and the Dream Mine can be found on-line. I believe that his Second Sight was a blessing and not a curse. A warning for the Children of Zion.

The longer poem, in quatrains is a good variation indeed. John Koyle sounds like an exceptional character from Mormon chronicles.

Kim, today the Koyle Mining Company, The Dream Mine, is owned by the Relief Mining Company, Salem, Utah. They have an annual stockholders meeting. It is held in Spanish Fork on the second Monday in May. It is held at the veterans building on Main Street and starts at 2pm. You do not have to be a stockholder to attend. The nine caverns of Nephite gold still await. Perhaps you and I can drive down together and attend the meeting?

This Koyle Mining Company of his, was it successful? Did they get rich with the nine caverns of Nephite gold?
