Uprooted Poem by Ann Dewyze

Uprooted

At the time it felt as though my chest imploded inward
When he rejected me with such indifference
Each word like the strike of a shovel,
Unearthing the roots of the love that had grown
The dirt stained his hands red,
As a savage reminder,
Of all he had torn asunder
