Unwitting Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Unwitting

Rating: 2.8

I would run away
except I have no place to run
except to you.

I would fade to dim
except
your light
keeps me in view.

My eyes cast down
certain days
but you have
mirrors
on my ground
and they my eyes
re-direct.

I take a match
to flame my aching soul
and your ocean pond
would not hear of it.

I've talked of leaving life
and you put it before me
and I can't.

I sit down
my head in my hands
and hear you whisper
a tiny centimeter
away
and my whole body
feels light again.

This you do for me
everyday
most times
un-knowing
that you do
by
just reaching out
in your natural way
saving my life
unwittingly
each day.
