(untitled #29) Poem by bob barci

(untitled #29)

Rating: 2.7

Today of all days
I get up before the birds,
as if I have someplace to be.
For some reason
I feel excited,
as if something good is coming my way.
I attempt
to keep myself bright eyed and alert
for whatever happens.
I turn on the television
with the volume on low.
It’s amazing how dull and boring
the programs are at this time of day,
and I struggle to stay awake.
Spending time in the bathroom
with a book of old poems,
I keep thinking that
I’d rather be doing something else.
In the kitchen,
I finally decide what I want for breakfast,
but as soon as I finish making it,
I realize that I’m not really hungry.

Unfinished
