Unseasonable Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Unseasonable

A beautiful day with blue skies is predicted
Balmy temperatures in the eighties are in store
Unusual October weather is making me addicted
Extended summer days make me beg for more…

The warmth of a sun filled day steals my attention
Knowing full well that this trend will eventually end
Open-air activities overrule any confining detention
Relaxing thoughts of appreciation are my dividend

Flowers in the yard continue to flourish and bloom
A recent rain has given a boost, as stems stand tall
Buds keep on forming, oblivious to oncoming doom
Green leaves upon the tree cling tightly as they stall

Vibrant vines with Morning Glories climb the fence
Sturdy tomato and pepper plants persist and speculate
The skin of winter squash has hardened in defense
Soon autumn will step up and apologize for being late

Gather every ounce of this splendidly enjoyable day
Close your eyes and smile as you bask in the glow
Soon a frost will tinge leaves with a red and golden array
Forecasting a dormant scene covered with winter snow

lovely... I've still got lots of beautiful blooms in my wee garden, the sun still shines on... ahhhh! 'Gather every ounce', I certainly will. Thank you :) Alice Anne Gordon
