Unsafe Poem by Rose Marie Cook

Unsafe

The place I go
Is quite shameful
When it's all too much;
Too painful

I curl up in a ball
Up goes my concrete wall
Away from life I cry
Away from you I hide

I count to ten
Nails dig in
I close my eyes
Continue to cry

In my cuccoon
I hide from you
My protective shell
Inside I melt

Tears fall
Screams fly out
Pain-filled cries
No one helps

The pain's too much
Digging in
Feel Death's touch
Upon my skin

The place I go
Is no longer safe
Death now shows
In my great place

I count to ten
Nails dig in
I close my eyes
Continue to cry

The place I go
Is quite shameful
When it's all too much
I feel Death's touch
