It was always there in your eyes
But I chose not to see
For years you were by my side
Your girl, you hoped me to be
Instead of telling you we would never be
And that another had my heart
I left you hanging onto maybe
A silent lie from the start
While you were swept away in me
I was entangled in him
And he was in lust with her
What fools we were then
