Unique Hummingbird Poem by Virginia Cairns

Unique Hummingbird

Little hummingbird
Unique from the others

Always alone
Tear ready to fall

Feels like an outsider
Flawed too much

Begs to be accepted
Flaws and all

Beak too short
Body too large

Coloring dull
A misshapen wing

Scars hidden under the bland feathers
Scars from its past

The tear finally falls
As does the little hummingbird

Never accepted,
Never treasured

Always alone
Always fighting the emptiness inside

It finally gave up
Died alone and unwanted

Prayers never answered
Pain never receding

Even in death,
The pain and suffering live on

The torment never ending
Forever trapping this unique hummingbird

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Lately I have been going through a rough patch, and this morning was my breaking point. Thanks to this breaking point, I now have 6 new poems, although morbid and depressing. Hope they are able to help someone else through hard times like they did me!
