Uninvited Guest Poem by Shirley Your Speaker Smith

Uninvited Guest

Rating: 5.0

Tracts mud into the house
Eats all the vanilla ice cream
Doesn't fall sleep until early morning hours
Uninvited guest

Insists on draining my energy
This uninvited guest comes out of the blue
Interferes with my daily schedule
It is hard to get any laughs because my guest lacks a sense of humor
Uninvited guest

Offers no encouragement
Talks very little
Am I the only one or has anyone else had an uninvited guess show up on your door step
Uninvited guest

Depression is a guest who never waits for an invitation
No one would ever invite depression to come for a visit
I have crafted an excellent invite for depression to leave

Dear depression
Your visit is not a pleasure

Your constant interruptions of my routine are very ignoring

You are a burden I do not wish to carry

Your conversations are limited
When you do talk
it is not helpful

Consider this your notice to vacant the premises

Sincerely Shirley

I have come to the conclusion that depression is part of my life. I continue to find ways to push depression out.. Depression comes less and less and stays for shorter period of time. Amen
