Unfolding Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

Unfolding

Rating: 5.0

As the first ray of the sun
Grazes the courtyard, and
The crow shaking its black
Feathers caws at swollen fur
Of a cat, reveling in its finest
Glory the western wind plays
Upon spiked treetops to fall
Flat across golden sheet of
Ripe crops making a sound;
As her narrow eyes laden
With sleep of careless years
Slip upon a stretch of deserted
Street looking for a stranger to
Cross her path, a tune floats
Upon static water of a silent
Pond where with garlands
Around their necks wide eyed
Ducks tilt heads to get a glimpse
Of her; as rubbing palms against
Each other the old man put off
The lantern with a flick the door
Is kept ajar for the worried
Woman of the house to untie
Her hair to catch the clouds
Before she sends a sheet of
Dusts at the caring glance of a
Young farmer sweating behind
Group of unruly cattle marching
Towards the lap of stoic hills.
