Unerasable Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Unerasable

Rating: 2.8

Sometimes life is a slow motion
mugging
where I often wipe blood
from my brow
and I say;
so.

Sometimes I lose in love
where the pain's so bad..
but the next day
or at some point
I say
so?

I have wasted money;
spent frivolously
but I got over it
and moved on.

There are evil people
in the world
who know how to hurt
and manipulate beyond
what I thought possible;

but I vow not to lose my innocence
and my faith to cynicism.

If life's Ferris Wheel turns
down
I will wait
for the inevitable
upward ride
for with patience
it will surely come.

I may have Hope itself
crash 70 miles an hour
into a brick wall
but I,
the driver,
will emerge
dust off;
and go for yet another ride.

Courage is everyday life
where we emerge against the
odds;
with a feint
Unerasable Smile.
