Under The Sun & Moon On English Bay Poem by Leah Ayliffe

Under The Sun & Moon On English Bay

Rating: 5.0

When I dream at night,
I see stars of youthful times.
Hello golden gates,
On a cloud world paved to heaven.
And I think back to those days,
On the English Bay,
Dreaming in the oceans wave.
Sand angel's under the bright sunshine,
The degenerates of freedom and beauty
And midnight walks that went on for miles along the sea wall,
Reaching secret bonfire parties,
Finding paradise with a DJ on the beach.
Even then I did not know the world I was living in.
We drank straight from the captain,
My classic poison.
My best friends and I, yeah we stripped down to our body's core,
Running, chasing towards the shore line,
Where water reaches out to the sand,
Infinitely thirsty to kiss the earth.
There she goes, my friend Daisy,
Twirling wild and falling to the ground,
And I find comfort in the arms of a stranger.
Entranced by the Dj's sound,
I dance.
I dance because music is the essence of life,
I dance as it is the soul of humanity,
The only way God can reach me.
Or maybe it's the only way I can reach God,
Cause in my mind God is dead.
Except for when I feel its divinity in melody.
Song is my religion,
Dancing is my worship.
Take my hand, don't be scared,
Sweet child don't you know everything is fine?
My friend, let's take this journey back to the start,
Walk back those miles and stop to stare at the stars.
Lay with me longer, under the moon,
The compass of my heart.
As a young girl by your side on the shore of English bay,
Traces my mind and lets me find heavens way.
