Under Plastic Poem by Mehreen Mujeeb

Under Plastic

Lipstick;
People wear it to cover their chapped lips
No beauty
(People are hypocrites)

Blush on;
People wear it to cover their pale, cracked skin
No beauty
(People are hypocrites)

Sunglasses;
People wear them to cover their evil eyes
No beauty
(And they always will be)

People can wear a face of an angel
But still remain a devil from within.

This is the idea of beauty;
Being scared to show your real, ugly self
Showing,
That you can look gorgeous with PLASTIC surgery
However
Under all that plastic
You could still be left hideous.

God gave us all beauty,
It’s time we stop fiddling with it
