Under A Moonlit Sky Poem by Melpomene's Tears

Under A Moonlit Sky

Rating: 4.5

Amongst ancient castle walls
Diamonds of dew drops from emerald moss
Her sweet perfume clings to the cold air
Under the moonlit sky

Cicadas sing ever so softly
Stars wink ever so brightly
She sighs ever so softly
Under the moonlit sky

Her shadow stands alone
Ancient sundial in an ageless garden
She wanders, like a compass finding North
Under the moonlit sky

He said he would come
To dance a last dance,
To whisper lovelorn goodbyes
Under the moonlit sky

She still awaits him
Alone and hoping
Soft footsteps and softer tears
Under the moonlit sky.

Nice. The moon is a favorite subject for poets. Can it be because it give us so much leeway to be romantic under the moonlit vistas it shines upon when full?
