Unconditional Love Poem by Nimmy.K Alilakuzhyil

Unconditional Love

Marbled golden scriptures pronounce
Love thy neighbor as thyself
And I wonder why thee chose it
To be foremost of all virtues
But then I realize
To love my neighbor as myself
Lay the hardest part
Though you believe
You love yourself the most
Not true as it seems to be
For all day and night
Your mind is in turmoil
Loathing, feelings you experienced
And craving, feelings you haven't
While in depth of your heart
You, withholding bruised past
For all things happened
And for that went amiss
Pining for who weren't wih you
And displeased by those in life
So much happening inside out
Now your heart is full and burning out
And you couldn't imbibe anymore,
Life has to offer
As you walk in heavy steps
With maim heart and tear filled eyes
And all I could see, is haunting loneliness
Slowly taking its toll on your life;
I wonder if this is how
You treat yourself with love
Then your neighbor doesn't stand a chance
And before misery may proceed
Slash down its roots
Making amends with lost yesterdays
Look ing deep into your soul
For you could still find a flicker of flame
Call it unconditional love
Burning all your regrets and sorrows
Making no bargains to touch your heart
For its blaze can't be cooled off
By the swipe of time,
And no matter what may happen
It will always keep you content and happy
All I wish if you would give it a chance
To rule rest of your life
Then I promise life will be beautiful
And heaven will smile upon
Showering pearls of blessings
For this is how one should love.
