Unco

Poets today
don't get away
with 'awesome'
like Burns did with 'unco'
(meaning much the same.)

He wrote poems to many unco lassies.
To one he said he'd take her away
from the drudge of the barn and the byre
(meaning cowshed) :
'I'll teach you 'ow my fields to tent
and to tent my waving corn.'

At length she blushed consent.
