Unclaimed Poem by CHERYL winter

Unclaimed

Is it fate or destiny
That once a youth of promise
Now tramps the street
An unclaimed nobody?
Who knows what forced him from a loving home
Into the streets to live an roam!
What situation did prevail,
Causing his mind to fail?
Was it pressure from his peers,
That strung him out and broke his will?
Or was it alcohol or drugs
That set him on that downward trail?
No one can feel the pain of his mother
Who perhaps in ecstasy,
Had boastfully proclaimed her pregnancy with him,
For the world to know and see,
That within her fruitful womb,
She nurtured royalty!
No one can know the shame of that mother
Who now, must only watch, but leave unclaimed,
That blight upon society!
That broken, empty shell!
It's a bitter tale!
A tale she cannot tell!
