Uncertainty Poem by Tom Billsborough

Uncertainty

Rating: 3.5

Particle, wave...
How will it behave?
By choice or by chance
Uncertainty's persistence,
In the mind's micro world
As decisions unfold.
"The road not taken" as Frost would say
The scheme abandoned at the break of day.
The song unwritten as a dream fades away.
Choice of words like the latest dance
Is a matter of a moment's consequence
And often just chance.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Uncertainty predominates in life and life forms itself not through choice, but more by chance! How much of planning and ground work have been done earlier, still much depends as a matter of a moment's consequence! Succinctly and beautifully put!

Thank you, Valsa. The Uncertainty between choice and chance fascinates me as does Robert Frost's beautiful poem on the subject. Also I ask myself why I used a certain sequence of words in a poem, rather than other. Would they produce the same or a different consequence?

Uncertainty is not only a quantum physicists headache, it is the only certain thing in life. (Screw death and taxes)

Yes, you're right there, Kelly. But often I'm uncertain as to whether I'm uncertain. In certain circumstances, that is.

No body can be ever fully sure or certain about anything, very wise words there. Annette

Thanks, Annette. You're an early bird like me, I notice. Must be that fresh sea air that gets us up! Tom
