Unbundled Beliefs Poem by Myrtle Thomas

Unbundled Beliefs

Unbundled Beliefs

as the wind blows invisible
and the river rolls on it's own
the lofty clouds seem a menagerie
warmed like mother's breast

fresh as a tulip on springs morn
kissed like virgin lips, plump
the evening dew clings as lovers entwined
' how intoxicating the jewels of nature's crown '

while the bees linger long on berries
under the days warm sun
the rainbow seen last summer
permeates the mind, to unseen forces domain

catalog the surplus and find, they are borrowed
somewhere between yesterday and tomorrow
in lost dreams and sleepless nights
nature is magical to the innocent
from womb to mothers milk

then the frostbite of reality
living on ice cubes in the dark of night
void of tender blades of grass
or flowers blooming, breathless dancing
on splendid stems

recollections of springs sunshine
kiss a blushing cheek
while a song plays unending
' You Are My sunshine ' in memories
laying dormant in my head.
