Umbilical Cord
Umbilical cord of a mother
Is severed thrice,
On the birth of her offspring,
After the teen-age of her image
And if she overstays,
On death of her beloved.

That's assuming one doesn't believe in reincarnation. The number then would be difficult to ascertain. Still a well written and thoughtful poem. Thanks for the insights.
