Two Nights Ago Poem by Jeff Siegel

Two Nights Ago

I held your memory in my hands,
Two longing nights ago.
Soft and kind, my love was blind
Two darkened nights ago.

And your touch, gentle as the morning,
glowing upon my skin.
A life so sturdy and full,
Now so feeble and thin,
Two lonely nights ago.

And the stars that once had guided our way,
Now hide in clouds until the day.
Oh, how these hours move so slow,
An eternity in a box,
Two lonely nights ago.

Oh my darling, please come back to me.
And ride my carriage of white back to tennessee.
And together we'll walk
Above the winds that sing and blow
And reprise the love that time had stopped
Two lonely nights ago.
