Two Daughters

You gave birth to four
Two sons
Two daughters
Boys will be boys
Girls will be you
You raise us to be grown
Praise us to be shown
But theres one problem
One daughter gets hid
One daughter you get rid
You forget you have two
Untill I'm ready to put on my shoes
And I walk out this door
And then you remember
Two daughters

How restlessly they speed, and gleam, and quiver,
Streaking the darkness radiantly!--yet soon
