'Twas The Night Before Christmas Poem by Edwina Reizer

'Twas The Night Before Christmas

Rating: 5.0

Twas the night before Christmas
When all through my house
Not a creature was stirring,
Not even a mouse.
But that would soon change
beginning at five.
For my grandkids were coming
and when they’d arrive
everything would change in a minute.

I in my apron with food all around,
My husband quite tired was looking and found
the cookie tray tempting, He just couldn’t wait.
When I wasn’t looking he stole from the plate.
The children were dressed in jolly, new clothes.
Their cheeks were all rosy and red on their nose.
Their eyes were like saucers as they saw under the tree
some bright colored packages from Pop Pop and me.

But first we must eat and fill up our belly.
We pray they won’t burst like a bowl full of jelly.
And then as the kids went right to work
we took lots of pictures while outside did lurk
the sound of sleigh bells and ho-ho-hos.
We thought we might see him but everyone knows
that he only comes round when kids are asleep.
Now Christmas brings memories that all of us keep.

Like the songs of the season that we sing with cheer
and the really true reason for why we are here.
We say to our family and everyone else
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

Edwina, This is a fabulous poem, based on another fabulous, similarly-titled poem from the early 1800s. Are 'we' sure that I, Bri, did not write this! ! ! ? bri ;)
